Nattiecat:
The floatation tank is one of the most relaxing and exhilerating things I have ever done: you feel entirely weightless and very heavy at the same time. It's the best way to lose yourself completely and allow yourself to absolutely relax every muscle in your entire body. Very clean and hygenic you're talked through what to expect and how to make the most of your experience in beautiful surrounding. An absolute must for those people wanting to experience something totally different!
Thank you. We appreciate your input.

My husband had thrown out his back and we were thinking of massage when we remembered the flotation room on Utila and, man, were we glad. After an hour of floating, he came out feeling fantastic! I did it next, a little bit worried about how my claustrophobia might affect my experience, but I was really surprised. It's hard to describe how rejuvenated and relaxed I felt when I emerged. The owners are wonderful and the tank is very clean and user friendly. It's really great! We have a home on Utila and will definitely do this again!!! What a treat!

Experiencing a floatation tank - sometimes called a sensory deprivation chamber - has been one of my husband's life-long dreams. So when we found Float Utila near the dive resort we visited in February 2010, we knew we had to go! The tank is 8 feet in diameter - certainly the largest one we've ever heard of, as most are usually coffin-sized. The broad expanse allowed me to stretch out my arms and legs without any confinement, and floating in the silent dark, completely supported by the water, was an experience on par with extended meditation retreats. When we return to Utila for whale shark season, we will be sure to schedule time for several floats.
Thank you. We appreciate your input.
A unique way to really relax!

As an uptight, stressed out American who never puts the work down and feels guilty over taking vacations, I came to Utila to seek answers to my life, or at least to finally ask the hard questions. After a couple of days of lazing in the hammock with a Salva Vida, a book and the ocean breeze, I still hadn't completely unwound and so I went into the floatation tank. Mind you, I had not even heard of one of these things before. It was foreign and a complete sensory overload for me. How can a sensory deprivation tank be a sensory overload?? Since I am not much of a water person and a bit high strung, I kept the light on and my eyes open the entire time. I looked around, tried floating in different positions and ended up having a near panic attack. I was actually worrying about relaxing, while losing focus on just letting go.

Needless to say, my first time was all about getting through an unknown experience. John and Amanda were very patient and supportive so I decided to give it another go. This time, I employed the meditation tactics of my current island reading in "Eat, Pray, Love." I kept the light off and floated on my back, with my arms and legs open like Vetruvius, letting my body float on its natural course in the buoyant salt water. I chanted a mantra out loud, letting the sound echo off the walls and back to me. I repeated that mantra about deserving love and happiness. Although I was barely moving in the complete darkness, I felt like I was shooting down a brightly colored tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, I opened my eyes and felt there was a presence around me, culminating in an orgasmic experience unlike any I've had before. Because I was finally able to completely open my heart and my mind, I was in turn, filled with light. (I need to add here that I was completely sober and I am no hippie...) I left the floatation tank with a renewed energy and spirit, much more valuable than any therapist or massage!

Thank you for changing my life in such a positive and loving way!

xx

Sres. FloatUtila:

Dear John and Amanda

Thank you so much for working so hard to get me into the Float Tank.
I can say that it was the most incredible feeling I have ever experienced and am dying to get back in there and go wherever it is I went the first time!
I am still feeling euphoric and only wish I could have used it today.  The closest experience I have ever had to the feelings I had when Floating would be acupuncture and this was 5 times for intense and enjoyable.
You have truly created a unique and wonderful experience here on lucky Utila!
Thanks again a million,
Rodg

Floating at John and Amanda's has become a delightful ritual. For me, a sufferer of joint and limb pain, migraines, and fibromyalgia due to chronic illness, floating is a simple solution to my physical aches
and pains. It is also an anticipated private getaway from my everyday life.
On days that I float, my body feels lighter and my posture is straighter. My muscles relax, as if massaged. While floating, my mind is allowed a silent space to run away into deep thought, or just the space I need to be still.
I would recommend floating to the weary traveller, the sore athlete, or the adventurer looking to experience something new. Mostly, I would recommend it to anyone seeking to reconnect with their own mind and body.

We, here on Utila, are so fortunate to have--what I believe to be--the world's largest and finest flotation tank and to have, without a doubt, the world's most caring and gracious hosts. From the fresh flowers in the changing area, to the handmade rain shower, to the psychedelic rainbow smiley-face light, no attention to detail is spared.

Tony on Utila:

Jo and I have had the pleasure of utilizing the float tank together and it is absolutely fabulous. Having been in sensor deprivation chambers before I can state unequivocally that this tank is the best I have ever been in, by far, and the amenities are 5-Star. It is my opinion that this is also the largest tank to be found on the planet, only adding to the experience. You will never touch the sides, I guarantee.

For first timers, NoJo or Amanda will spend time to inform you of the massive benefits to be received by floating tanks, and do so in a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic manner. The fact that couples can avail themselves of this tank sets it above and apart from any other facility I've been in.

Many of our guests at Laguna Vista have had the opportunity to "float at Johns'", and it is raved about by them when they return.

Kudos to NoJo and Amanda for giving Utila even more to boast about and for making this world class facility available to us all!

Doctor Kurt Halversen:
Float Utila has created the ultimate mental, physical, and spiritual environment. The Utila float tank that John created is first class in every sense of the word as I felt like I was back in my mother's womb, 55 years removed................... If you're looking for DEEP REM's, this is nirvana.
